Wireless Tether for Root Users APK *** If you get force closes after the update uninstall and install it again! This program enables wifi AND bluetooth-tethering (PAN) for “rooted” handsets. FYI, I did my initial root relatively blind using SuperSU SR2 which is why I was having so much trouble. Lots of good info on the XDA forum. I'm now rooted on (VZW) on NDE63V with SR3. I'm not the biggest fan of the WiFi Tether Router app because it was a battery drain on my last phone (Moto X 2014), and feel it might be on my new Pixel.

It's how you connect to the phone, not how you connect to the internet. So, the wifi tethering means you're using wifi for the link between your phone and laptop. Bluetooth tethering means you're using bluetooth for the link between your phone and laptop. USB tethering mean you're using a USB cable for the link between your phone and laptop. To 'tether via the 3G connection' would imply that your laptop is already directly connected to the internet.
Have: Galaxy S3, version 4.1.2, rooted Folks.I recently got a Galaxy s3. Really nice phone, but was very dissappointed to see the wifi tether block after 3 days. SO.I read up on the rooting, thanks to THIS Great Fourum (thanks all) I used: -'ROM Manager' to root -'Titanium Backup' (paid version) to freeze that 'Synchronos.' App SITUATION: I CAN tether a PC via USB cable using PDAnet and access the Internet.HOWEVER.when I try WIFI Tethering (with FoxFi, Wifi Tether, or the built-in wifi tether feature that comes on the phone).the app will start and run just FINE (seemingly) on the phone.no error messages or anything.
AND.from my notebook or tablet, I can SEE the wifi signal AND CONNECT to it Successfully.BUT.on a PC, for example, I will still have the little Yellow Exclamation point over the wifi signal strenght bars which indicats that it is connected to a router okay.but that there is no Interenet access from the router itself. The SAME thing on the iPad.it connects just FINE to the wifi signal.but it will NOT pull a web page.it indicates that there is NO internet access. When I run the troubleshooter on Windows 7.it reports something like ' DNS not working'. NOTE: While a device is connected to the phone via the wifi tether, but UNABLE to access the Internet.the phone IS connected to 4G and able to access the Internet JUST FINE.(I have tried to manually enter my own DNS settings on the attached device just to see if that helped.but it does not) Everything else seems to be in place as far as rooting, etc.especially considering that USB tethering works just FINE.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I REALLY need the wifi tether feature, and this is about to drive me crazy. Any help greatly appreciated.THANKS!
Have you told Windows that your WiFi that your using from your phone is a trusted source for Internet, or what ever it is called with Windows. I had problems years ago with Windows and new Wi-Fi connections after the first one I set up any other connections after that I had to make sure I changed them to make sure that Windows knew they were trusted connections and access to the Internet. It is different than tethering by USB as it is a Wi-Fi connection. Might want to look up some of the windows phone 8 threads and ask those Windows members they might be able to help better. Pico 2000 software download. Our try jumping in the chart area and see if someone there who uses Windows can help more.

I had problems years ago with Windows and new Wi-Fi connections after the first one I set up any other connections after that I had to make sure I changed them to make sure that Windows knew they were trusted connections and access to the Internet.
